Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation
Kitten Rescue Curacao FoundationCare for motherless kittens, nursing cats and cats with special needs
The Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation offers temporary shelter for motherless kittens, lactating cats and injured animals. The foundation offers shelter to cats with leukemia, cats with a disability or those that need special attention. The Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation sterilizes at least 1000 cats per year from the streets and from owners with a small budget. Owners with a small budget can also make use of our cat food bank and are helped with a vet consultation if necessary. In collaboration with large resorts on the island, TNR projects have been set up, which means that hundreds of stray cats now have a healthy existence at these resorts. Together with volunteer teams, this TNR concept has also been applied to various beaches and the stray cats there receive daily care.

Our ambassadors

The Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation is very proud to present our enthusiastic ambassadors Piet & Froukje. These prominent representatives of the Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation have one thing in common: they are selflessly committed to supporting the Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation in our mission to put an end to the enormous animal suffering among kittens and cats on Curacao.

In addition to his work for TV and his work as a veterinarian, he is completely selflessly committed to the foundation. Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation

ANBI StatusKitten Rescue Curacao was founded by Miriam Bleeker as a private initiative in 2014 and has been an official foundation since 2019. The Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation has a ANBI Status (Dutch Only).

This Dutch ANBI quality mark also means that we as a foundation meet strict quality requirements. This way you can be sure that Stichting Kitten Rescue Curacao contributes to a better world for animals, handles every euro with care and is (financially) accountable.

The population of cats on Curacao, an island in the Caribbean, is out of hand. Too many stray cats because people don’t spay and neuter and therefore (motherless) kittens are found almost every day. In boxes, plastic bags just left to die on a horrible way. Motherless kittens without any chance of survival if there’s no help for these little ones. This situation lead to the start of the Kitten Rescue Curacao Foundation. We started to help out newborns and kittens that just starting eating by themselves. The last few years the foundation also started helping out not only kittens but also nursing cats, injured cats and cats with special needs. We do offer them a safe place to stay and heal or to raise their babies in a completely safe environment.

On a daily basis, the foundation has over 100 kittens/cats in the shelter. Of course, they get healthy food, medical care if necessary and we look for a suitable home for the kitten or cat. The kittens are raised and grow up as stable and social cats. The costs of shelter for food, medicine and medical costs are high. Therefore, we can only continue this important work with sufficient donations. Please support us! Adopt a kitten or cat, adopt virtual or become a supporter.. Thank you so much!

Because sterilization is the only way to prevent all this animal suffering, the foundation opened its own operating room in 2020 and started a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) programme set up in collaboration with Dutch veterinarians and a team of volunteers. In addition, partnerships have been established with local veterinary practices. At least 1000 stray cats and cats from owners with a small budget are sterilized annually. Thanks in part to our partners and donors, we can continue to organize these sterilization campaigns.
